In its Clive Field operation, an Alberta-based energy company produces gas from 120 wells, 90 of which are monitored by Flowstar turbine meters and 30 by other orifice plate monitors. Over the past three years, the company has observed:
- Orifice plate meters were consistently out of tolerance by a minimum of 5 percent or more. Flowstar computers were never out of tolerance.
- Using the Flowstar solution, the volume of gas throughput more than doubled.
- The Flowstar computers were accurate, saving valuable staff time and resources that would otherwise be necessary for end-of-the-month back office accounting reconciliations.
- It took only 20 minutes to complete weekly production data from the 90 Flowstar wells once the data was collected using the DCR1000 SD/MMC cards. It took six hours to accomplish the same task from the 30 orifice plate monitors.
