For the first time in Vietnam, a new technology for production of fucoidan, having anticancer, antivirus, antimicrobiology activity from Vietnamese brown seaweeds was set up. This is a high technology process, using ultralfiltration membrance so permits concomitantly concentrating and eliminating contaminants in the raw fucoidan solution at room temperature that is why fucoidan production can keep its nature bioactivities.

Technology has moved at a fast pace over the last decade. A technology R&D project in which a current biomedical problem serves as a test-bed for demonstration of the technology’s impact would be too well-developed for this program, and should be the subject of a conventional R01 application under the Parent R01 FOA.
